Once upon a time, a little girl was looking for a book in a public library. Actually, that little girl was me. I was the girl looking for a book.
I remember that the day was very hot and the library had that wonderful old book smell. I found a shelf of fairy tales I had not read before. The book I chose to borrow was A Book of Mermaids by Ruth Manning-Sanders and illustrated by Robin Jacques. I inhaled the rest of the amazing series that summer.
Fast forward a few decades, and I was a school librarian helping a colleague go through a box of old books. I found a well-loved copy of A Book of Mermaids. I was ecstatic to see an old friend and searched online for other collections written by Ruth Manning-Sanders. I was heartbroken to discover that they were all out of print and very expensive.
I was so sad that my own children and the student patrons of my library would not be able to enjoy Ruth Manning-Sanders’ amazing books.
And that is how Mab’s Media began.
Mab’s Media is now the sole publisher for the Ruth Manning-Sanders and Robin Jacques books. I will be forever grateful to both estates for allowing me to bring the books back to life and into eBook versions for the first time. I hope you enjoy these and the new books published by Mab’s Media as much as I do.
